Glycolic Acid
Glycolic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugarcane and is known for having the smallest molecular size among AHAs. This allows it to penetrate the skin deeply, making it especially effective for exfoliation and promoting skin renewal.
Commonly used in dermatology, it’s found in chemical peels, cleansers, and serums. It works by loosening the bonds between dead skin cells, helping them shed more easily and revealing fresher, brighter skin beneath. Dermatologists often recommend it for improving dullness, uneven texture, and early signs of ageing.
Glycolic Acid can smooth skin, fade fine lines, and even out skin tone. It also supports collagen production, which can lead to firmer skin over time. Due to its strength, it’s best to start slowly to avoid irritation or over-exfoliation.
