Exfoliation
What is it?
Exfoliation removes dead skin cells from the surface, helping to reveal smoother, more radiant skin underneath.
How does it work?
Exfoliation can be achieved with physical scrubs or chemical exfoliants such as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs). It helps improve skin texture and boosts the effectiveness of other skincare products. However, excessive exfoliation can damage the skin barrier and cause irritation.
Most skin types benefit from exfoliating 1 to 3 times per week. After exfoliating, it’s important to apply a moisturiser and sunscreen to protect the fresh layer of skin from environmental stress.
