The non surgical lift is a procedure to lift designated areas of the face and neck.By applying these sutures inside the skin, it activates fibroblasts which are cells in the body that produce collagen. The collagen is responsible for the skin structure and elasticity.
It involves application of Polydioxanone (PDO) threads which are a biodegradable polyester suture. The skin will be anchored bilaterally through the cogs. The threads will stay in situ and they will eventually be biodegraded by our body after 12 months. A thorough examination and drawing of vortexes to plan the procedure is pivotal for the final results. An injectable local anaesthetic is applied to the entry points and these will be punctured with a small needle, where the threads will be placed to allow more comfort and a pain free procedure (note: there will local anaesthetic provided all the way through the procedure to be given as required). The threads then are inserted to the vortexes (areas to achieve lift) and then trimmed down. A little plaster or surgical tape is then placed over the entry points and to be left in situ for at least 24h (reduce any risk for infection).
The results can be seen immediately, as soon as the procedure is done. The benefits of having PDO Thread Lift are:
Upper face, lifted and more defined eyebrows. Mid face (targeting nasolabial folds) and lower face (targeting marionette line) and neck (loose skin in the upper neck)
The very first treatment will last for 12 months, once procedure is repeated after 12 months the results will last longer due to the collagen that has been built up over time. If it's advisable to have any high energy treatments, such as, Ultherapy or Lasers, this should be done before this procedure as this may interfere with threads integrity.
The recovery period is very minimal. Some bruising and swelling can be expected, mainly 24-48hrs after the procedure. You should return to your normal life activities right away, with exception of strenuous physical activity which should be avoided for 14 days. You should avoid massaging or applying any pressure to the treatment sites, as well as, refraining from pursing your lips, smoking, or excessively opening your mouth for 2 weeks as this can be uncomfortable.Possible side effects include, but not limited:
All of the above will be discussed thoroughly in the consultation before the procedure and precautionary measures will be taken to prevent its occurrence.By Teresa RochaAesthetic Nurse Practitioner and Prescriber
