Nucleofill® vs Profhilo® - they are both biostimulators of collagen and both promote a glowing and youthful look.Profhilo® is made of hyaluronic acid and Nucleofill® is made of polynucleotides.

But let’s dive into each one of them

Nucleofill® is the newer line of natural polynucleotide based, bio-stimulating gel created from Salmon DNA fragments. It has a specific mechanism of action for optimal biorevitalisation as it achieves contouring and tightening due to the interaction of 4 effects for skin bio-regeneration: Moisturising, biostimulating, detoxing effects against free radicals.Profhilo® is a moisturising treatment with hyaluronic acid, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into skin, Profhilo® stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin. Profhilo® not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue by stimulating collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin. The stimulation of collagen results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.Nucleofill® is available in Soft, Medium and Strong versions making this product more versatile for areas like under eyes, whereas Profhilo® cannot be injected. The strong version of Nucleofill is also able to enhance cheek and jawline areas. Nonetheless Profhilo® has a Body version containing more product in 1 syringe allowing areas like under arms abdomen to be injected. Profhilo also requires 2 sessions (minimum) spaced out in 4 weeks (mandatory) whereas Nucleofill® is more adaptable and results are seen within 7 days. For those allergic to Salmon, Nucleofill is off the table as it contains Salmon DNA fragments, so best to avoid, but Profhilo is safe when it comes to allergens as its contents are pretty much hyaluronic acid.

So which one to choose from?

Ultimately it depends on individual skin presentation and both practitioner and patient’s preference, but if one is looking for hydration and glowing skin – Profhilo®. Likewise if the skin is presenting ageing signs, some wrinkles and lack of texture, and to work on skin laxity I would choose Nucleofill®.
