Dr Maryam Zamani · Patient Care
A private guide crafted for our patients — please select which stage best describes where you are today
Stop the following medications and supplements at least two weeks before your surgery date. Do not restart them until six weeks post-surgery where stated.
If you take regular prescribed medication, please inform Dr. Zamani and include all details on your pre-operative medical questionnaire. Do not stop prescribed medication without speaking to your doctor first.
Begin the following supplements 72 hours before surgery to support healing, reduce bruising and minimise inflammation. These are OPTIONAL supplements should you wish to take them
Bromelain
500mg once daily
A natural enzyme from pineapple that reduces inflammation, bruising and speeds healing. Continue for four weeks post-surgery.
Vitamin C
1000mg twice daily
Essential for wound healing. Supports collagen production and acts as a powerful antioxidant. Continue daily after surgery for four weeks.
Zinc
30mg twice daily
Stimulates wound healing and supports healthy skin. Best absorbed as zinc chelate, picolinate or aspartate. Continue for four weeks post-surgery.
Vitamin E
400 iu daily (post-surgery only)
Begin after surgery, not before. A potent antioxidant that accelerates wound healing. Do not exceed 600 iu.
You will receive links by email to your pre-operative consent form and surgical terms and conditions. Please ensure these are completed before your surgery day.
You will also be booked for a 15-minute pre-operative assessment, ideally at least one week before surgery if needed. At this appointment your blood pressure, height and weight will be taken for Dr. Zamani and the anaesthetist to review.
Stop all non-essential, non-prescribed medication in the days leading up to your procedure — this includes vitamins, paracetamol and any over-the-counter supplements not already discussed.
If you take regular prescribed medication, please inform Dr. Zamani and include all details on your pre-operative medical questionnaire. Do not stop prescribed medication without speaking to your doctor first.
Do not consume alcohol for 24 hours before surgery. Alcohol thins the blood and can significantly increase the risk of complications and bruising
For general anaesthesia, strict fasting is required.
Regular medication: If you need to take regular medication on the morning of your procedure, inform Dr. Zamani and your anaesthetist in advance. You may take it two hours before with a small sip of water.
For local anaesthesia: eat a light meal before your procedure and stay well hydrated.
