Top 10 tips for eczema

Top 10 tips for eczema:
- Educate yourself about your condition, it can ONLY benefit you.
- Don’t expect a cure, expect control. Once you have had an episode of eczema in your life, you are at risk of having another episode in the future. But don’t panic, well controlled eczema shouldn’t affect your quality of life.
- While food is most often blamed, it’s only one of the many possible triggers of an eczema flare.
- Try to get to know your triggers, but accept that sometimes you won’t find out and if you do find out, accept that sometimes you can’t control your triggers.
- Let go of what you can’t control, it’s part of self-care.
- There is no one-size-fits all solution and so the appropriate course of action should be unique for each person. Find out what works for you and what doesn’t.
- It’s worth exploring mindfulness practices and yoga. There is evidence that yoga could slow the harmful effects of stress and inflammation, which both play a role in eczema. What’s holding you back?
- Get to know the difference between maintenance therapy and flare therapy (or passive and active treatment).
- Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise.
Don’t judge steroid creams before you have informed yourself about them. A little more education, a little less judgment is recommended. Not all natural and organic is good, not all steroids are bad.
